Key Duties of a Finance Officer :

1. Financial Planning & Budgeting:

  • Prepare annual budgets in coordination with departments.
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure spending is within budget limits.
  • Forecast financial trends and requirements.

2. Accounting & Bookkeeping:

  • Maintain accurate financial records.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ledgers.

3. Financial Reporting:

  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Report on income, expenditure, and financial position to management.
  • Assist with audit preparation and respond to auditor queries.

4. Compliance & Regulatory:

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and institutional policies.
  • File tax returns and other statutory financial documents.

5. Procurement & Asset Management:

  • Assist in purchasing and procurement decisions.
  • Maintain records of institutional assets and their depreciation.

6. Liaison Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with banks, government departments, and financial institutions.
  • Support funding proposals and grant applications with required financial data.

7. Advisory Role:

  • Provide financial advice to the management for informed decision-making.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and financial risks.
