Key Duties of a Finance Officer :
1. Financial Planning & Budgeting:
- Prepare annual budgets in coordination with departments.
- Monitor expenditures and ensure spending is within budget limits.
- Forecast financial trends and requirements.
2. Accounting & Bookkeeping:
- Maintain accurate financial records.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable.
- Reconcile bank statements and ledgers.
3. Financial Reporting:
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Report on income, expenditure, and financial position to management.
- Assist with audit preparation and respond to auditor queries.
4. Compliance & Regulatory:
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and institutional policies.
- File tax returns and other statutory financial documents.
5. Procurement & Asset Management:
- Assist in purchasing and procurement decisions.
- Maintain records of institutional assets and their depreciation.
6. Liaison Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with banks, government departments, and financial institutions.
- Support funding proposals and grant applications with required financial data.
7. Advisory Role:
- Provide financial advice to the management for informed decision-making.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and financial risks.
