The pharmaceutical sciences combine a broad range of scientific disciplines that are critical to the discovery and development of new drugs and therapies.
The pharmacist is an integral member of the healthcare team who provides preventive and therapeutic pharmaceutical care and serves as a resource to patients and other healthcare providers. A dynamic educational program is needed to develop these competencies. Our Curriculum Committee continuously reviews and enhances the curriculum to ensure students develop the competencies essential to the pharmacist’s expanding role as health care provider. Curriculum changes also reflect scientific advances, population profile changes, increasing health expectations, technological advances, the increasing role of the government in health services and other influences.
Pharmacists are basically the medication experts. They are the ones who understand how a medication heals, how it reacts with food and other medicines, and its side effects. This powerful knowledge makes pharmacists indispensable in the healthcare scenario. You can find them working in hospitals, clinics, managed-care organizations, pharmaceutical and biomedical companies, government health and law enforcement agencies, and as lecturers and researchers at universities around the world.
